:: Parralox - State Of Decay

Parralox

It‘s been a worthwhile experience to reacquaint with leading producer John von Ahlen and Amii Jackson. I've known John for several years through his great work with some of Australia's leading musical lights. Amii is well remembered for her partnership with top DJ BeXta on 'V.I.P.’ a couple of years ago. In the last eighteen months John & Amii have formed Parralox, and become one of the terrific new breed of Internet stars with their synth-infused pop stylings. Upon listening to the album ‘State Of Decay’, I wonder whether some of the music media‘s minds are decayed for not lifting this music to Australia's forefront. There are songs here that have “hit” written all over them. This is, in fact, the duo's second album, and I've made a point of listening to the earlier material to gauge the development. They have been able to create something most impacting and stimulating. You only need to think of artists like New Order, Pet Shop Boys and Human League and not be daunted into classing Parralox in the same sphere. They have been able to transport 80s music into the modern day. The musical ability of John and the striking looks of Amii create the perfect blend. Amii's edgy pop vocals go hand in hand with John's technological prowess. Tracks that sit up and demand notice include 'Universe, I Love You’, ‘Isn't It Strange’, ‘Hotter’, ‘Moonwalking’ and ‘When The Walls Came Tumbling Down’. But the whole album deserves credit and it's no wonder that the live shows attract great interest. Parralox is sure to create a stir with audiences around Europe in the summer. The album comes with two exclusive bonus tracks and two remixes also. Hopefully, we'll see them perform in Australia before the end of the year, or else we'll be missing out on something classy and riveting. Check the Parralox website for iTunes purchasing and tour details.
