Parx-e: A Compilation of Independent Music is the brainchild of Chris Parke, owner of Melbourne based Clear Springs Entertainment. There is a good emphasis on female vocal talent set in acoustic mode and there is a spread of Australian and international performers. I suppose that a compilation like this enables certain artists a hearing otherwise ignored. It can be a means of discovery, and the performers in question put in a determined and passionate effort in their brand of touching, melodic pop, as well as elements of driving rock. Parx-e, being Chris Parke's vision, has much going for it as a breath of fresh air and it is something to support. There is definite talent around Australia and other parts. I had already heard of Fourth Floor Collapse, The Wellingtons, The Scissor File and Jessica McPherson and they've battled hard to get heard. Maybe, with other avenues by which the public can
access music, artists like these can obtain a worthy profile. Let me compliment Clear Springs Entertainment for a bold initiative, in covering a range of styles by unfamiliar voices. We look forward to future compialtions.
