Paulini was always destined to outlive the Australian Idol hype, outclassing her competitors with both her astounding vocal range and luminous stage presence. Record label SonyBMG doesn’t seem to know quite what to do with all this talent. Fast forward a few years post Idol, and Paulini is still doing the hard yards on Channel 7 celebrity vehicle ‘It Takes Two’. Her current single ‘So Over You’ sees her confidently step into Beyonce’s shoes with the hip shaking beat and jazzy brass section. While she doesn’t put a foot wrong, it’s a shame Paulini’s talents aren’t being channeled in a more original musical direction. Nevertheless, this is a catchy upbeat confection that is sure to fill up the dance floor.
