:: Paul Mac - Panic Room

Paul Mac

Paul Mac wanted to really make this album click after his much-needed foray with The Dissociatives (alongside Daniel Johns of silverchair). We get to listen and feel the Paul Mac we want to know here. There are cool, irresistible melodies and the plentiful beats and grooves that win over emphatically. Familiar guest vocalists from Paul‘s earlier '3,000 Feet High’ album include Peta Morris and Abby Dobson. Peta sings charismatically in the single ‘Sunshine Days’ and Abby sings on the wonderful closing track, ‘The Beginning Of The End Of Time’, where you‘ll also hear the 5-year-old daughter of Paul's old Itchee & Scratchee mate Andy Rantzen. There are some notable performances from Paul's other guests, including Decoder Ring's Lenka on the title track, Sarah McLeod's hypnotic track 'Never Been Before’ and the only male vocalist Luke Steele (of The Sleepy Jackson) who sings a special song that Paul dedicates to his late father. Each track has its own appeal and style. This is a winner for the creative, electronic pop talent of Paul Mac. The limited edition version is worth buying for five additional remix tracks. Be sure to see Paul's live shows around Australia in November.
