:: Paul Turner - Clear Blue

Paul Turner

Singer/songwriters are as common as a John Howard lie these days, so it‘s refreshing when someone makes you sit up and take notice like Paul Turner does. Although not blindly brilliant, Turner shows a fair degree of maturity and songwriting class on his album 'Clear Blue’, a 10-track release. Soft, controlled vocals, lovely, lush instrumentation and arrangements, and songs that stick with you well after they‘re finished. Some of the best examples of this are found in tracks like 'Love Meteorite’, which climbs and rises with every verse or the beautiful ‘Poison’, a softer, calmer song that swirls around you. He may not take your breath away or have you crying into your beer but he certainly does get your attention. A fair effort then, considering the singer/songwriter genre is always so over-crowded. Seek him out to see what I mean.
