:: Phoenix - AlphabeticalPhoenixPlenty of lively hooks and a catchy sound mark a very interesting album. Very accessible for a band you’d think of as indie. Led by vocalist Thomas Mars, the French quartet, the really good tracks come in the first half of the CD. The type of glorious soft-pop style one could crave for is the first single drawn, “Everything Is Everything”. It has a classic ambiguous overtone and sets up the set pretty well. “Holdin’ On Together” has a sheen in line with something adult contemporary, but still mostly accessible to the ears. The personal nature of the songs will also engage the listener, especially those hearing the band for the first time. With a soulful vocal and catchy pop melodies driving through, Phoenix is sure to capture more listeners with this attractive collection. |
