:: Pretty Girls Make Graves - The New RomancePretty Girls Make Graves This is quite a revelation from a band that is new to me. The album contains some lively and creative songs that could have done with just a little more oomph to carry it as a higher quality set. The songs are very interesting in the way they’re structured. I would presume that the live sound would be quite dynamic and sung with a fiery attitude by lead singer Andrea Zolic. It still sounds like a true punk-rock style that will engender interest in the band in the future. Apparently, the band spent more time in the studio nurturing the sound they wanted after their debut “Good Health” from two years ago. Thus, the experience and development has given them a solid thrust forward. The guitar parts in certain songs, like “The Teeth Collector”, are forceful and a standout song is “This Is Our Emergency”, whose lyrics will instil a desire of pursuing dreams. It has that winning-against-the-odds feel and will win you over for its duration. With deep rhythms and rousing messages, this band will continue to go places. |
