:: Razor Blade Kisses - Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar

Razor Blade Kisses

Razor Blade Kisses seem totally immersed in their own world. Hailing from Southampton, England the lead vocalists and songwriters are Iranian pair Layla and Azadeh. Their spooky goth-laden vocals provide an eerie set of songs that are full of creativity and initiative, though it obviously won‘t appeal to all. As it is their first album, the band should be pleased with bringing a new edge to gothic music. The album opens with 'Alice’, a darkly poetic track that sets the mood for the rest of the album. ‘New Nightmare’ swiftly follows, which has the added blend of an orchestral edge. ‘Ballerina’ is a very witchy song, and has a strong beat that matches the flow in the lyrics. One of the highlights is ‘Teddy’, a track which has distinct elements of what Rob Zombie might produce in a horror sense. ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar’ displays Razor Blade Kisses’ versatile musical range, whilst never losing their unique musically identity. For a self-released album, the production quality is extremely high; from the excellent sound/mixing quality to the cover artwork and photography. Fans of the goth scene will really enjoy this album, and it is certainly refreshing in the genre with the powerful anthemic rock mixed with haunting, yet sweet, pop.
