Seven years after ‘Rebecca’s Empire’ stepped off the stage, Rebecca Barnard has released a debut solo album, ‘Fortified’. Featuring Peter Jones and Michael Barker from ‘The John Butler Trio’ on drums, this album has a smooth country sound. That said however, it may be best suited for those who were already fans of Rebecca’s former band. The style of writing and song can take some getting used to, especially for those who haven’t heard her music before. ‘Fortified’ will not appeal to everyone, but fans of “Rebecca’s Empire’ should enjoy her calming and soothing tracks - especially the sweet song dedicated to her son.
