Some will be familiar with Kruder and Dorfmeister in their unique dub exploits, and the G-Stone family. This is from where Rodney Hunter has had an affiliation and brings his own approach to expressing this upbringing into an album of immense stature. The “Hunter Files” could be seen as chronicling the hard work that Rodney has endured in reaching this level. You will appreciate the funk and soul that these tracks invoke. This album has been two years in the making as the label had been begging for him to record. He has also gathered guest appearances from great talent such as the stylish Orieta Pires on “Quero Saber”, the warm vocals of Diana on “Let Your Soul Guide Your Heart”, and Hubert Tubbs on “Without Warning”. It all works cohesively. The elements of jazz and soothing grooves give images of a smoky, laid-back lounge vibe. The last track in particular, “You’re Not Alone”, is a fine stop to Rodney’s expressive foray. It’s a big welcome to the G-Stone family.
