:: Roger Sanchez - Come With Me (plus bonus disc)

Roger Sanchez

Take a house DJ, like many, whose playground is nestled on Ibiza among bikini-clad women, sun drenched beaches and drugged-up dancers. Imagine lyrics lamenting past relationships - let me hold onto what we had for one more night and track titles such as Don’t Tell Me It’s Over and I’m Yours. Fill the gaps with classical guitar, sensual vocals and violin. Is this sounding much like Roger Sanchez to you? I think not. After these contemplations, it becomes quite obvious that Sanchez has endured an emotional journey which has woven itself into the aptly titled Come with Me, which he wrote and produced, a far deviation, musically and lyrically, from his previous work. The bonus disc features four re-mixes which have a dirtier electro feel.

This offering is a lesser-produced, softer compilation featuring smooth r&b vocalists, Lisa Pure, Jaquita Perkins, and more instrumentation, with Sanchez himself singing and playing on some tracks, whilst still retaining a ‘summer’ feel. Melodies still contain the obligatory kick drum and snare fillers, but overall it’s a cruisier less-party-driven album, which somehow seems to work, given the record’s consistency. There’ll be no problem cranking it within earshot of the neighbours.
