Rogue Traders

The transformation of this band, complete with Natalie Bassingthwaighte as vocalist, sees a fullness of sound and performance. It’s been a dramatic shift from the club sounds of the past but the Rogue Traders would have certainly picked up a new audience. The present sound provides something rebellious in a rock-punk sense with the attractive Natalie belting out some feisty tunes in an energetic fashion. Already, “Voodoo Child” has been a successful single, whilst a personal favourite of mine is Track 11 “In Love Again”, an extremely catchy song that also samples Tears For Fears' “Head Over Heels”. The expertise of DJ/programmer James Ash ensures the good mix of rock and dance music with efficient arrangements. The results are very good, but you get the feeling that the band can polish things up more smoothly and that they will only get better.
