Various influences mark this accomplished work. Rogue Traders became noticeable around the country for their earlier single “One Of My Kind”, a reworking of the INXS hit “Need You Tonight”. It got their name out there. There’s more than meets the eye with these guys and the album generally hits the right spot. Their latest single is “Stay?”, a softer track that also has the eighties at heart. Some of the other tracks really kick hard, like “Overload”. The funky grooves and big drums give you an idea of their scope and creativity. Other highlights are “Broken”, something here for rock fans to absorb, albeit with a taste of electronica. Then there is the brass instrumentation on “Lift This Planet”. It’s more of a pure musical form with terrific vocals and musicianship. I definitely recommend this album because of the freshness and energy shown.
