Formally known as Sarah Joyce but recognised as Rumer, the name was inspired by her favourite author Rumer Godden. She has been described as having a similar voice to the classic songstresses Carole King and Karen Carpenter. Yet she brings her own unique style by intertwining a 1970’s soft-rock, with a modern-day take. She has worked with some of the top music industry figures, such as Burt Bacharach, Jools Holland and Elton John. Her debut album Seasons Of My Soul brings a fresh vintage sound that is easy listening and soothes the soul. ‘Slow’- one of the more relaxing sounds on her album - describes an unreturned love. Her music has the capability to translate you into a chilled out mood and is a perfect melody for when you need to unwind.

Throughout her album we are given a combination of different emotions and moods that reflect the seasons of the year. Rumer is an emotional songwriter, but not all songs bring wintry sorrow, ‘Am I Forgiven’ is a heartfelt tune that can be further described as being light hearted and motivating. Rumer‘s single, 'Aretha’, is a bluesy number, inspired from Aretha Franklin; its' a sensitive and heartfelt instrumentation and is again perfectly complimentary to Rumer's meaningful vocals. Indeed Rumer’s debut is instantly likeable, engaging and gently inspiring. Some would say that it encompasses that old cracked heart on the sleeve, this sleeve is indeed luxurious, neatly stitched and strongly designed.
