The second (of three) albums Ryan Adams released during 2005, ‘Jacksonville City Nights’ is Adams at his glorious country best. While this album may alienate some of his fans and supporters who prefer his rockin‘ blues style, this is still a great record nonetheless. Unlike '29’ where he left out his band The Cardinals, their presence here is a welcome one. Adams croons his way through these stories of heartbreak, resentment, fear, death and while dark in content, come across as very listenable, enjoyable songs. With a beautiful, string-laden cover of ‘Always On My Mind’, Ryan Adams and his album, ‘Jacksonville City Nights’ is yet another example of the remarkable talent this man bears, and while being despairing (as I'm sure his intentions were), is just brilliant!
