“For the $1million dollar question, what do you want to do, Sarah?” “Thanks Eddie, I think I will phone my friend Chris Cheney.” One can imagine Sarah McLeod weighing up her options whilst recording her new single Private School Kid, the follow-up to her debut single Let’s Get Together. The track sees the two famous Australian musicians in fine form with Chris Cheney adding vocals and guitar. Private School Kid sees Chris in a more polished form when compared to his music from The Living End. The single also contains the song’s original demo and it is interesting to here how the song progressed after the collaboration. It is inevitable that Sarah is going to be compared to Gwen Stefani, another female front woman of a famous band, now turned solo artist. Personally, I can’t help but hear music akin to Placebo in Demolition Waltz , which maybe the weird twangs following the song’s opening drum solo. The single also contains a music video and behind the scenes footage. I’m sure fans will enjoy the mental image of Sarah fully made-up, walking into bars and saying “Stick ‘em up!” Otherwise, Sarah is on a winner here, regardless of if she got that million-dollar question correct or not.
