:: Schvendes - Twice The ManSchvendesIt’s my first listen to this Western Australian band. It’s their second EP and they’ve done well in gaining good recognition in their home State. Like other good Western Australian bands, they are creating a bit of a buzz around general music circles. With this EP the vocal presence of Rachael Dease soon grabs the attention as adapting well to the various moods contained. You can sense the atmospheric music in the brooding guitar riffs, a wonderful accompanying cello, and the strong drums. There is impressive versatility in the blending of bluesy rock to almost country rock proportions when the band shows the knack of being able to restrain the tempo before rocking out strongly. The title track shows them well with a catchy feel – the chorus being extremely well crafted. This is a worthy introduction to Schvendes, particularly for music lovers in the eastern States of Australia. I mean introduction because there is great scope for more and I’m sure that there is a terrific future ahead. | ![]() |
