:: Sean Paul - Stage OneSean PaulBored to tears is even too high a compliment for Sean Paul’s latest album. And the worst part about it is, the torture drags through the enormous playlist of 25 tracks, like a rampaging bull without the slightest hint of slowing. Hit those stop buttons on your CD players kids, ‘Stage One’ needs to be shut in a dark closest and left there to gather dust. For a start, no one can ever hope to decipher the gibberish used in the place of normal English, so any hope of appreciating the lyrical content, is dashed immediately. Secondly, the album is peppered with skits aimed at adding humour. But in reality, no one with half a brain finds flatulence during lovemaking, a laugh worthy subject, or women bashing, reason to crack a smile. Instead, these dismal go-betweens fall short of any comic talent, and instead leave listeners questioning the creative process behind the album. And as for the rest of the eighteen tracks, hearing a baby bawl is more fun. From start to finish this album fails to impress. Mediocre beats and cheap laughs, just aren’t my style. | ![]() |
