:: Serena Ryder - If Your Memory Serves You WellSerena RyderShe has captivated Australian audiences in recent years and has a deep affection for Australia. With another tour just behind her, she again engaged audiences into her own world. This album emphasises her beautiful singing style and demonstrates this rare capacity to bring audiences closer to her. We can also hear good instrumentation including the use of mandolin and hurdy gurdy. There are some gorgeously smooth tracks, whilst Serena doesn’t mind displaying her love of old favourites with her version of “You’re On My Mind” and “Good Morning Starshine”. The latter is a great sing-a-long feel, reminding of the great style of Jose Feliciano. In fact she loves the song so much, the listener gets another dose. Listen elsewhere on the album! Track 10 (Coconut Grove ) is one of the real highlights. Serena may sadly be one of those performers who, as endearing and gorgeous as she is, may be destined to stay on the outskirts as a fantastic indie artist. I suppose it allows her certain freedom of expression, but I would really love to see her make the big time. She has a unique quality and point of difference with other female performers. | ![]() http://www.serenaryder.com |
