After her battle with illness a couple of years ago, it‘s great to see Sheryl Crow back in action with a new album. It's also a return to the partnership with producer Bill Bottrell, who worked with Sheryl on her breakthrough 'Tuesday Night Music Club’ album fifteen years ago. Sheryl reveals some candid political thoughts on ‘Detours’, versing her opinions on the Iraq war and the oil reserves situation. But it‘s her intimate songwriting that will draw listeners. Her cancer battle in 2006 is the subject of 'Now That You're Gone’ and her recently adopted son is spoken of glowingly in the song ‘Lullaby For Wyatt’. The outspoken and personal nature of Sheryl's songs are a welcome listen and signals a very well produced album.
