Since The Flood

Massachusetts metalcore based act Since The Flood are no strangers to the metallic hardcore scene as their debut full-length album ‘Valor And Vengeance’ was released through Unearth front man Trevor Phipps’ Ironclad Recordings label back in 2005. Since then, the five-piece metalcore act have toured with the likes of Bury Your Dead‚ All That Remains‚ Madball, Sworn Enemy‚ Shai Hulud, 100 Demons, Embrace Today, Cannae and The Red Death, signed up with Metal Blade Records, and have finally released their Jim Siegal engineered/mixed sophomore effort ‘No Compromise’. As you can tell by the company the band keep on the road, Since The Flood is very much a metallic hardcore act with a sound that could easily be comparable to the likes of Hatebreed and Terror. Like an oncoming storm, ‘Gone Tomorrow’ slowly builds with a riff heavy introduction and a solid introductory verse, before giving way to a fast paced onslaught of speed and pure aggression. For the remaining eleven tracks, Since The Flood rarely gives quarter as each track is served out with the same amount of passion and conviction as the opener, with songs such as ‘Listen’, ‘I Am Revenge’, the groove based ‘Everything To Lose’, ‘All For Nothing’ and the album closer ‘Guardian Angel’ clearly the more memorable efforts on offer.
Since The Flood doesn’t necessarily offer anything new on ‘No Compromise’, but they certainly add an element of honesty in their approach today’s metalcore scene. If straight down the line metalcore in the vein of Hatebreed and Terror are to your liking, then Since The Flood should be on your list of must haves.
