:: SkyBombers - Take Me To TownSkyBombersFor a bunch of Melbourne boys who started jamming in suburbia, The SkyBombers have made the journey from entertaining at friend’s parties to opening for punk legends X at record speed. Already burning up the LA music scene the SkyBombers have in their hot, young (just out of high school) hands a seriously cool punk album. Take Me To Town may be the bAND'S debut but thanks to producer Rick Parker (The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Von Bondies and Dandy Warhols) it’s a flawlessly made and fresh sounding record. Like their AC/DC idols the SkyBombers have already begun to see success outside of Australia, releasing their first single Always Complaining to rave reviews. A rocking Britpop anthem, Always Complaining is a definite party starter, kicking off the album together with On + On in typical punk fervour. It Goes Off vibrates into the mellower If You Want To Be The One providing the perfect soundtrack to any young person’s life: partying one day and brooding over lost love the next. Loud and guitar heavy, the tracks will quickly convert you to the band’s signature sound: rock you can club to and teenage arrogance you can relate to. But to say that Take Me To Town is simply the classic teenage-emotions - meets-punk is not doing the Melbourne outfit justice. Sure there are tracks are about spending the morning in bed and chics who complain too much, but the album boasts some stylistically sound and incredibly innovative songs, proving that the boys know what they’re doing. Eleanor’s Lullaby is just the sort memorable gem you don’t expect from such a young band. An ode to Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper the track sings of a slow and melancholic desire to be remembered. And if Take Me To Town is any indication of their future, there’s no reason why SkyBombers can’t become a household name.
