:: Various Artists - Skitz Metal (by Nick Skitz)

Various Artists

Proof again, if you needed it - you shouldn’t judge a book or a CD by its cover. A firey devil, fangs on show, breathing down over a crucified half man, half guitar wouldn’t normally do much for me, but this time the proof was in the listening. The cover aside, this is one awesome CD. Nick Skitz is well known for his remixes of popular songs including a collection of CDs dedicted to this, all of which, I might add, have scary looking covers. Skitzmetal echoes Nick’s 2004 remix of the Choirboys “Run to Paradise” this time he has taken some all time pub-rock classics and revved them up, just a few notches. The CD includes the Choirboys remix, but also tackles some heavier stuff and comes off as one of those ‘perfect for any mood’ CDs. This time, Skitz has tackled songs from Nickelback, Iron Maiden, Alien Ant Farm, Kiss and my personal favourtie - Vanilla Ice. It’s a great CD even if you object to putting a little dance into some rock classics, remember its all in the name of fun, and Skitz has definitely done good things to all these songs. So as Vanilla Ice says - “Stop, collaborate and Listen, Ice is back” but this time it’s Skitzstyle!
