Having upped the ante with the calibre of people involved behind the scenes on this album, we can see the direction to which Brisbane band Speedstar is heading. I enjoyed their debut album from a couple of years. It’s interesting to learn how much the band wanted to move towards this new flavour in the music. Therefore, with the added spring in the band’s step – involving additional resources of string and brass instruments, gospel choir, and pure pop melodies – the result is an excellent follow-up album. Watch for their new single “Unbreakable”, probably the most upbeat on the album, and one of the really good singles you’ll hear from an Australian band this year. Funnily enough, it’s indicative of what the album contains. Speedstar shows its emotions through very capable tracks and match the interesting lyrics with terrific vocals and instrumentation. This is a very classy CD from a unique band.
