:: Splashmat - Funny Uncle

Splashmat

Well, one thing’s for sure; you definitely get your money’s worth with this double album. There are 27 fresh tracks on Funny Uncle. Splashmat has a unique sound. It’s hard to say what genre they fall into exactly. They manage to mix up elements of rock, funk, blues, retro and a bit of folk too. Whether this sound is for you or not, one thing that is undeniable is the musicianship of the band. They might play a typical run of the mill rock track but then shock you with an intricate blues track with a brass section and jazz piano. Most tracks have a good contrast of heavy rock to laid back blues with Tex Perkins-like vocals on top. There is something very Australian about this album.
