:: Static X - CannibalStatic XStepping up and pushing the boundaries, Static X fuses its solid, old-fashioned metal grunt with a hint of the electronic. Their latest instalment Cannibal adds a sightly new edge to their tight, rocking sound. Reptile is a clear example, its strong riffs creating a chaotic frenzy, while its electronic overtones deliver a pleasing balance. Sustaining the crystal-clear melodies, tight riffs and solid vocals common to Static X's previous albums, Cannibal continues to belt out quality tracks from first to last, with standout tracks Destroyer and Cuts You Up awakening the senses and stirring the chaos within. While remaining powerful and in no way lacking lustre, the sound does seem to intertwine and feel a little same-ish towards the latter part of the album. Cannibal is however saved by its finale Team Hate bringing the album to a well-rounded close. | ![]() |
