:: Statler & Waldorf - AndronovavirusStatler & WaldorfI became of these two Queensland electronic producers earlier this year upon the release of their “Collusions” EP and the two guys in question, Dennis Gascoigne (Statler) and Leo Hede (Waldorf), bring their own unique identity to this eclectic and delicious set of tracks. They work very cohesively and sharply in their electro beats and fuse styles ranging from trance to punk-rock elements. Their power has seen them acclaimed as one of Australia’s best live dance acts and this album cements their position in musical originality and creativity. A couple of highlights are the witty Statler vocals on ‘Duck ‘n’ Cover’ and its synth-rock inclinations. The wonderful Sarah Blasko song ‘Don’t U Eva’ is remixed as ‘Way With Words’. You’ll notice that some care is taken in the lyrical content too. Electronic acts may not seem to focus on lyrics, but these guys pay attention to wanting to say something significant. Overall, Statler and Waldorf like to indulge in overstepping various styles and power their own distinct brand in an impressive album of energy and vitality. | ![]() |
