Those German purveyors of sumptuous down-tempo tunes, Stereo Deluxe, has oiled their wheels for the second in their soul food series. Direct from the heartland of nu-jazz, this release provides a smooth selection of dub-inspired productions, with the Mo’Horizons’ radio pleaser ‘Gonna Be’ a significant entry to the collection. Robbyn Rhodes provides some bass-driven pleasure with ‘From Me to You’ while The Strike Boys jump up a gear with ‘I Am A Witness’ featuring Emo. From the Bobby Hughes Combination comes ‘Goi’; its luscious orchestral and soaring violin lines transporting the listener to a different atmosphere. It will please fans of the label by showcasing new music from their artists, and win new fans with its variety of styles. Conceptually the album works well too, ranging through jazz, house, funk, and soul.
