:: The Sundance Kids - Fall Into Place

The Sundance Kids

The Sundance Kids are a refreshing listen. So many Australian bands, especially the young ones, struggle to find their own niche in the music scene. Luckily for all avid Australian music fans, The Sundance Kids have found theirs and they’ve found it on their debut album Fall Into Place. Entirely paid for by the band members and recorded on a budget, Fall Into Place is an inspiring album. The boys aren’t trying to be someone else and aren't trying to recreate some Idol’s sound. It’s all them and it’s incredibly unique and infectious. Their first single ‘Solutions’ peaked at number 48 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and is a great showcase of the band’s immense talent. Easy-going, it’s the perfect sing-along-at-the-top-of-your-voice song with a chorus that explodes and a piercing guitar melody. The magic doesn’t stop there. In ‘Drive Away’, the band’s second single, Ash Gale’s vocals are sore and sensitive, taking the soft rock verses into a powerful chorus, building tension along the way with some perfectly placed high notes. And it’s right then and there, in between Gale’s haunting vocal range, that it really hits you. The Sundance Kids have struck gold and they’ve done it through their incredible ability to create tension and build climaxes. In ‘There’s Still Time’ the melody starts off slow and strong before climbing into a lush, beautiful and sensuous ballad that reaches its peak at the ambling guitar bridge. It is easy to see why The Sundance Kids toured with Evermore. The have the ability to weave emotion into their songs in the same way Evermore does - those that takes the listener on a journey through heartbreak, love and desperate loneliness. Emotions that are driven home single-handedly by Gale’s incredibly melancholic voice. Fall Into Place is a one-in-million kind of album. Effortlessly enthralling and enjoyable no matter how many times you listen to it. Utter perfection.
