:: Tame Impala - InnerSpeaker

Tame Impala

After a hard working time, Western Australian band Tame Impala have unveiled their debut album InnerSpeaker to much hype and a popular, recently-finished national tour. Their earlier EP had set the path for greater scope and improvement. The new album indicates that the hype has been well rewarded as this is a fan-pleaser from start to finish. The band is sure to also access new fans because of the mature sound and writing. There is much to like, from the fact that the band's Kevin Parker recorded and produced the album with Death In Vegas’s Tim Holmes on engineer duties. It was then mixed in upstate New York by the renowned Dave Fridmann (MGMT / Flaming Lips). The pop songs show a tighter band in good control and having constructed good songs. There's a good flow to the tracks and Parker's strong vocals add much to the aesthetic. As I said earlier, their constant work, through endless live performances have stood them well in giving that bit extra and fine-tuning their craft. Thus, one can see how they've evolved. Tame Impala have reinterpreted past influences for the modern listener and display great maturity and showcase how important melody is, in vocals and instruments. All this has been led by the passion of Kevin Parker and it is fascinating to gauge his inspiration and where he can take this band in the years to come. There is much to like about the album and the band's touring exploits here and overseas (currently touring the US with MGMT) will provide much attraction. The album is also released in America on June 8, 2010.
