:: Taxiride - Axiomatic

Taxiride

The Melbourne band is back with their third album, having had a substantial break, due to various circumstances, from their previous album. A lot has changed particularly a renewed energy and vigour that has seen them gain independence in the manner in which the band is functioning. Already, we’ve heard the upbeat, cheery pop flavour of the first single ‘Oh Yeah’, a song typical of the earlier Taxiride days. It isn’t an indication of the rest of the album, however. There are several other worthy tracks that could become singles also, though not with the same pop-rock immediacy of ‘Oh Yeah’. However, the atmospheric harmonies and choruses see the band work in a more purposeful way. The production techniques have changed with various samples and effects introduced. The keyboards and guitar highlight the musicianship while lead singer Jason Singh is in good singing form. They seem more relaxed with themselves and still create a sound that sets them apart. It will be interesting to gauge listener reaction to this ‘comeback of sorts’. ‘Axiomatic’ is worth a listen and is something on which Taxiride can build towards returning to the top-end spotlight.
