Quite a different tune to the previous Australian casting and the honest and exceptional talent of Hugh Jackman provides the spark for this album. His voice is pure and effective and he has the art of playing the Peter Allen role extremely well. Accordingly, the Broadway cast has been lauded as wonderful and the hard work has paid off handsomely. This CD captures the fine moments and it has lots of heart and soul. Jackman gives hearty renditions of “Love Don’t Need A Reason”, “Once Before I Go”, and “I Still Call Australia Home”, just to name a few. The supporting cast has the verve and enthusiasm to also give rousing renditions and they accomplish it well. Overall, the CD is a worthy capture of a fine Broadway show and is a nice reminder of the Peter Allen persona.
