:: The Bon Scotts - The Kids Are Coming

The Bon Scotts

‘The Kids Are Coming’ is one hell of a cheery sounding track. The latest single from the formally-disbanded-but-recently-reformed-Melbourne-five-piece The Bon Scotts, ‘The Kids Are Coming’ is a playful mess (in a good way) of tinkling bells, twanging guitar rifts and quirky percussion, all intricately arranged around front man Robert Zimmerman’s knock-out vocals. The Kids Are Coming single CD is completed by ‘Drape Those Caring Arms Around Me’. Even more eclectic than ‘The Kids Are Coming’, this track faintly sounds like The Proclaimers’ smash ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ before exploding beyond recognition into a cacophony of whistles, xylophones and stamping feet- pure brilliance! The Bon Scotts have an incredibly unique masterpiece in ‘The Kids Are Coming’ and bonus track ‘Drape Those Caring Arms Around Me’ is like the cherry on top of a giant chocolate sundae. Impossible to squash into a genre, The Bon Scotts can best be described as a fantastically odd fusion of folk and pop rock that is infectiously catchy.
