:: The Butterfly Effect - PhoenixThe Butterfly EffectThe Butterfly Effect’s song “Phoenix” is based on the following definition, “A person or thing of unsurpassed excellence or beauty.” This beauty is immediately evident when one looks at the clear disk pressing of the single. The band’s press release questions what may have previously been unthinkable…A love song from The Butterfly Effect! They are quick to add “No” because it is “A fine line between devotion and obsession.” The song has an epic, melodious chorus accompanied by the heavy guitar trademark of the band. The song’s music reminds me of Grinspoon circa the Easy days but has the lyrical depth of “Chemical Heart.” While Grinspoon may have won their first ARIA for best rock album at the 2005 ARIA Awards, there will be some stiff competition when The Butterfly Effect releases their sophomore album “IMAGO.”
