:: The Cat Empire - Live On EarthThe Cat EmpireMelbourne based The Cat Empire have always liked to do things differently, right from the basis of their unique sound or the friendliness to show to their fans, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when they want to put together to their first full-length live album that it’s isn’t some album with poor sound put together all from set in a dingy hotel. No, ‘Live On Earth’ is a double CD with 22 tracks that are recorded right around Australia… and the world, with tracks from Paris, London, Montreal and New York also added. The track selection found here is amazing. Of course all the classic Cat Empire singles are to be found; a wonderful orchestra driven version of ‘The Car Song’, a wicked version of ‘So Many Nights’ with a wonderful fix of orchestra, brass and DJ scratching, ‘Days Like These’ which sounds amazing live, the legendary ‘The Chariot’ and an absolutely awesome version of ‘Hello’ that whips of the crowd from Burnie, Tasmania into a frenzy. The Cat Empire have also included some great covers with a sensational version of Paul Kelly’s ‘Dumb Things’ and a version of ‘Hotel California’ that eclipses the original. The truth is that some of The Cat Empire tracks sound better live and tracks like ‘Sly’ and ‘The Darkness’ come alive in a way never heard on CD before. This is one live album that is a must for anyone’s collection.
