The Dandy Warhols

The Dandy Warhols take no prisoners and do things their way. The Portland band clawed their way out of their major label deal and set the path for this new album to be released on the Etch n Sketch label. It‘s been a while since we heard their imaginative, intuitive sound but 'Earth To The Dandy Warhols’ sees the band in stunning form in establishing another space-based concept album. This is a heavily produced album that features driving guitars and intense synthesisers. Nobody can replicate their music and that‘s the appealing thing with Courtney Taylor Taylor and his band mates. The images, the sounds and the newly explored spheres put them in a special place. The opening track 'The World The People Together (Come On)’ sets the album in motion as being one of the best songs I‘ve heared this year. It has an anthemic pop feel of great magnitude. The album moves along into some cool synth moments and Courtney revels in his distorted, low-voice. We are treated to further epic pop anthems and classic Dandy Warhols pop rock. Though not one of the strongest tracks, 'Love Song’ features the legendary Mark Knopfler on resonator guitar and Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on guitar also. There is the dance-punk of ‘Welcome To The Third World’, another top track and potential single. The album rounds off with a fifteen-minute epic ‘Musee D'Nougat’, one for the dreamy and stoned at a late night party. One can't help be infected by the depth of talent and diversity of styles that the Dandy Warhols bring. They have always been an interesting and creative foursome, and once again the sheer worthiness in how they display their craft will please the fans and, while not everyone's taste, should influence other music listeners to follow their journey.
