:: The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell And BackThe DarknessGod bless The Darkness. In the age of ‘cool’ bands with bushy hair cuts, tight jeans, and leather jackets, The Darkness come back and show all these young ones what rock‘n roll is all about: fun! Make no mistake, despite its apocalyptic title, The Darkness's second album is one big fun ride that is laced with great riffs, operatic vocals and witty lyrics. But unlike the first album which was absolutely giddy, 'One Way Ticket…’ is a more professional affair that reminds the listener that the band are actual musicians rather than spandex wearing jesters. Songs like the title track and the hilarious ‘Knockers’ show the development in the band‘s sound. These songs still rock but they are more musical and lush. Credit to this goes to producer Roy Thomas Baker who was responsible for making Queen sound like the 'biggest’ band on the planet. But despite all the musical changes, The Darkness took in creating this solid follow up, it will always be their great spirit and unabashed fun that makes them so endearing to the masses. And with lyrics such as "You‘re beautiful and busty, but I'm a little rusty’ in the aforementioned ‘Knockers’, who can't help but love these British rogues. | ![]() |
