:: The Departure - Dirty WordsThe DepartureIf you read the history of the band members, you’ll notice an irregular upbringing and, as a consequence, the type of music created by The Departure checks the 80s influences but processes it into a contemporary feel. The infectious vocal sounds with good bass accent arouse interest through several songs. “Be My Enemy”, a previous single for them, remains as one of the highlights. “Changing Pilots” delves into dark emotions and is absorbing, while “Arms Around Me” with sweeping melodies and pulsating bass. Not as forthcoming or groundbreaking as I thought but it is certainly well produced and has several likely singles. They’re geared towards a big sound for a big stadium – check out the final track. The soaring sounds do create tension and punchy rhythms and it will be interesting to gauge their development. | ![]() |
