:: The Grand Silent System - Gift Or A Weapon

The Grand Silent System

They’ve had a devoted fan base for quite a while and it’s set to forge ahead in numbers. This album see all the pieces, of their last few years, finally gel into a more cohesive multi-faceted set that is intriguing as it is worthy. There is a rare quality of blending funky and orchestral influences and their concise arrangements show the band is developing well. Tracks like “At Close Quarters” and “La Macchina” puts the big sound into perspective and are good examples of the creativity of the band in making music under their own guidance. The intricate flute that rears its head gives a gentle reminder of Jethro Tull’s rare style and there are saxophone melodies that add well to the bass and drums. The soft keyboards and biting guitars on “Space Whore” is one of their best tracks. You can’t help but admire their originality and their live shows are sure to captivate.
