:: The Immediate - In Towers & Clouds

The Immediate

‘In Towers & Clouds’ is a great piece of work from The Immediate. A quirky indie sound that’s cleverly put together into one neat little package. In essence it’s a mellow and somewhat subdued production, with no hint of a formulaic approach. The Immediate are not popstars, so do not expect to find your basic intro, hook and chorus songs. Having said that, the album does not lack in appeal, and the music is easily as engaging as anything found in the charts. Each track tells a different story, the kind you want to hear over and over again. The Immediate do not seem bound by any particular convention, which results in a freedom of sound and an invitation to the listener to make of their music what you will. One example of this is the track ‘Lonely. Locked Up’. The song is built around a very basic heavy base line, but the band has complimented this with a clever rag-tag chorus of la-la’s. The album does not deviate too much from this path, it remains unobtrusive but certainly not forgettable. The overall sound is like air, light, natural and organic, and you’d sure as heck miss it if it wasn’t there.
