:: The Subways - AlrightThe SubwaysThe Subways, never heard of them? That’s okay, they’re an English alternative rock band that hasn’t exactly made it big time, but they do have a very loyal cult following who never miss their annual performance at the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Their new single Alright ranked #44 on the UK chart and is part of their 2008 album All or Nothing. To be honest Alright is, well, alright. The sound isn’t new and sits between The Beatles’ She Loves Me and the seemingly thousands of rock pop bands, i.e Simple Plan, that have emerged in recent years. Not to be harsh, the boys do have a very off-the-mainstream indie sound that’s not everyone’s taste and Alright is a commendable effort. The guitars are loud and rocking and the melody is catchy. Lead singer Bill Lunn’s voice isn’t off-key and has that sweet sound you typically see in pop-rockers, there’s even back up vocals and a nice, loud drum solo at the end. Sure to impress fans of the band, Alright isn’t heart-stopping but okay, if you’re into that British indie scene. | http://www.thesubways.net |
