Tina Turner gave the global mainstream media something else to circulate in May when she announced that she would tour at the end of this year through to the next. Oprah Winfrey was kind enough to give her a slot in her show… Turner must have something going for her. To complement Turner’s return to global music scene, Capitol/EMI record labels have released the joint album effort Tina! which comprises of Turner’s top hits, live recordings and some new tracks to stir desperate but ultimately starved originality. Turner hasn’t recorded an album for a while; perhaps she reflected (or was reminded) of her depleting finances. I wonder if Oprah actually asked Turner to appear on her show, or whether the role were in fact reversed. In all honesty, if you are a die-hard fan, please go and purchase it. The two new tracks are much the same as the rest of the album so don’t be surprised when you flip back to the first song after you’ve finished listening to the sixteenth track.
