This band is from Winnipeg, Canada and they scored a deal with 604 Records a couple of years ago. They’d been known as Sonic Boom, but had to change it due to its use elsewhere. Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger operates the label. Modern rock and metal influences gained Kroeger’s attention from a previous EP “Hurry” and, as such, sees some of that record’s tracks included on this full-length debut effort. Some of those deserved inclusions are “We’ll Get To Venus” and “Neapolitan”. They are two of the rousing tracks on offer with their soaring guitars. The new songs come from the same standing and generate the same addictive style. The question remains as to why the old songs seem to dominate – from the first three tracks, fans of the hard rock genre would have heard it all before. Listen out for “Ms Genova” for one of the more enjoyable tracks and for the significant lyrical content. New listeners should give the album a chance and decide for themselves. There is still some development to achieve but this is a good debut by a promising band.
