Transit Inc

Straight from Triple J’s Unearthed comes this innovative piece of musicianship lacking the pretentiousness that has plagued some of the more recent Australian rock acts. Electric/power pop is one way to describe Transit-Inc and their multiple relays of joyous stunned circuits. This album is really sizzling with speeding current circulating the wires of potential. These guys are just plain cool and really have something awesome to herald here with their debut self-titled full-length album. It's been a long two years coming but they have made this album after many difficulties including time and finance problems. Within a myriad of similar sounding bands (Killers and Queens of the Stone Age spring to mind), I think this album sounds a little different from the rest and I hope they go leaps and bounds because this effort from the Sydney group really impresses me. It’s obvious they have help from somewhere and it comes from Craig Porteils, who has recorded the album. Porteils brings coveted experience as he’s previously worked with the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Guns n Roses and Rod Stewart. It really comes as no surprise that the album is a polished effort, credit not only coming from the mixer but also some of Sydney’s most famous recording destinations: Velvet, BJB and Eargasm.

The first track opens with an incredibly unique vocalisation and we directly feel the funk as the broken drumbeat coincides with the soft guitars… it’s a great culmination. The vocals basically lead the songs within the verses and choruses and it’s what really keeps the album so tight knit. In most cases, when an independent artist debuts with a new album, the production levels are usually leave much to be desired. Transit Inc. definitely banishes this myth into orbit as the band displayed the potential to persuade Porteils to record.
