Travis Collins

Whilst already making big waves within the Australian country music scene, emerging artist Travis Collins must find the career trajectory of one Keith Urban very enviable indeed. On the strength of this, his second effort, it would appear that that goal is firmly within his sights. Hell, he’s even drafted in Urban to lend a song-writing hand with album opener Yeah She Does, a good-time wind-in-the-hair anthem that sounds like, well, Keith Urban. As with Urban, Collins is most successful with the rollicking boot-scootin’ numbers and is to these ears let down by prosaic AOR ballads such as the frankly nauseating A Friend To Me which is about as unsatisfying as anything Ronan Keating has produced but will probably have Tamworth housewives weeping into their rhinestone coffee cups. That said, there is plenty of good stuff here, with Rip It Up blowing the barn doors off their hinges and inviting everyone to the party. For Travis Collins, the dream career is eminently achievable.
