:: Tunng - Good ArrowsTunngTunng is an experimental folk-pop band from the UK. They are often noted for their use of strange instruments, including sea shells and a steel-strung harp. This album is no exception. They conjure some unique noises and sampling, all the while immersing listeners into their world. The six-piece band might get under your skin with their style but they take varying influences, from soundtracks, for instance, and expand and experiment into a folk-pop band that is still developing. It may well be some time before the band fully gels but there are several accessible songs on Good Arrows that contains creative and often bewitching beats. You will notice the one-word song titles, another case of them doing things simply. From their previous days of just having fun with instruments and gadgets, Tunng has expanded its dynamics and the vocals by Sam Genders and the occasional vocals of Becky Jacobs represent the band‘s instincts well. The best way to gauge the band's versatility and capabilities are to listen to tracks 4 and 5 (“Bullets” and “Soup”). They are the two highlight tracks and give a great one-two contrasting dose of rich melody and guitar rock This album is not to the majority of music listeners’ tastes but the band has grown significantly in the last two years and they leave scope to explore and develop much further. Note the Australian version has two bonus tracks “Wood” and “Clump”. | ![]() http://www.tunng.co.uk |
