:: Prince - Ultimate Prince

Prince

Ultimate by the artist formerly known as Prince, or the former Princely icon who now has become Prince again. It is a well balanced compilation of the singer’s most popular hits. Here is a pop star who was playing with his names, then putting then back way before Jennifer Lopez became JLo. To those who love, or were fascinated by this strange, high note gyrating creature, this album is just a reminder why he is special. This album features all the main hits, like “Uptown”, “Controversy”, “Purple Rain” and “1999.” Others also featured are “When Doves Cry” and “I Would Die For You” “Delirious” “Alphabet Street” and ‘My Name is Prince.” There’s a bonus disc of funked up Prince remixes, including the fabulous “Kiss.” - love that high note screaming towards the end. Other funky treatments include “U Got The Look”, “Raspberry Beret” and “Cream.” Although dance floors have been updated with a remixed version of “Controversy” lately, this CD offers Prince’s original version, with these lyrics which electrified all those years ago,…. “People call me rude, I wish we were all nude”. Prince’s shocking lyrics fabulously encourage hedonism, the Greek work meaning pursuit of pleasure seeking. He just wants to party like its 1999. Maybe he has a good, albeit visionary point, to today when he wrote 1999 all those years ago - "everybody's got a bomb, We could all die any day, But before I'll let that happen I'll dance my life away.” Shocking, sexy lyrics are contradicted by Prince’s current stance. Now he has settled down. He is a practising Jehovah’s Witness, happily married, and will not perform any of his wilder songs like “Dirty Mind” or “Sexy MF.” But in any case, Prince is more than just a (or was) sex icon and songs like “When Doves Cry” testify to that.
