:: Vanessa Hudgens - VVanessa HudgensIt comes as no surprise that following the massive success of High School Musical there would be a number of solo music projects from the stars. One of the lead roles in the film was played by Vanessa Hudgens, and she has used the enormous popularity created by her role to launch her music career. The film has been an absolute phenomenon, gaining the prestigious title of most watched televised event ever in the United States. It is reasonable to suggest then, that there are fairly high expectations for the stars individual efforts. Vanessa’s debut album ‘V’ is a solid start for a newcomer, and is sure to appeal to the many fans she has gained all over the world. The music is pitched perfectly for this demographic, strictly good time pop with light layers of R 'n’B and dance. Young girls will love this album, it have them grabbing hairbrushes to sing along and choreographing dance routines in their bedroom. ‘V’ will not appeal to everyone, and it’s safe to say in the music stakes it’s not a heavy hitter. Having said that, I think the album achieves what it sets out to do, that is to provide avid fans of the film with an extension of the stars talent. Tracks worth particular mention include the very smooth and silky ‘Come Back to Me’, and the soon to be anthem of all 12 year old girls ‘Never Underestimate a Girl’. Another thing to listen out for is the track ‘Whatever Will Be’, which will sound familiar to anyone who follows the music careers of Home and Away stars. Overall I would say this is definitely one for the fans. | ![]() |
