Hed Kandi has retained a quality for producing terrific compilation albums. Look at the Disco Kandi and Beach House records in the past. This is a three-CD collection of mixes; full-blown mixes too. It means better quality and this will be the first of what is intended to be two albums per year. The label keeps things simple and effective in selecting exceptional house tracks, including some one-hit wonders of the 90s. For example, they have resurrected Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman” and “Tom Browne’s “Funkin For Jamaica”. With three CDs, there is bound to be something of interest and there is plenty on offer to give great value for money. The mixing is excellent over the course of the Beach mix, Disco Heaven mix, and Twisted Disco mix. Erick Morillo, Junior Jack, Lee Cabrera, and Sandy Rivera’s terrific “Dreams” provides some of the gems. It could be the start of a fabulous series and this one is strong enough to savour.
