:: Various Artists - Intolerable Cruelty Original Motion Picture SoundtrackVarious Artists From an excellent film comes an endearing soundtrack. Carter Burwell composed several enjoyable tunes for the film and it fits in nicely alongside some old classics. The style is mostly easy listening although a couple of tracks drag on slightly, in particular Chuck Mangione’s “Fells So Good” that reaches for about ten minutes. But the great tunes arise from Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer” from 1970. It remains a true classic. Similarly, the unforgettable “Non Je Ne Regret Rien” by Edith Piaf still pops up bold fashion, and Elvis Presley’s all-time great “Suspicious Minds” still sounds fantastic. Burwell’s original music fits the style of the film capably and the melancholy flavours of “Fully Exposed” bring that richness in honesty to the theme. Add to that the effervescent Tom Jones with “If I Only Knew” and a blues rendition of “Glory Of Love” by Big Bill Broonzy, and the collection satisfies then and there. You can overlook the other couple of non-entities contained. A fine soundtrack to a terrific film. |
